Online IR35 test goes live

A new online employment status test has gone live this week, which will let you know if you are likely to be caught by the IR35 rules or not.

The online tool, which you can try here, will let you know your IR35 status based on the wording of your contract and your working practices.

When asked why it had taken over a decade for comprehensive IR35 test to become available online, its creator - Dave Chaplin - told us

"My guess is that other firms may have looked at it and considered the cost too high. It’s a complex piece of software development that required in depth knowledge of IR35, software development skills, and experience designing decision making algorithms. We have all those skills and experience in house, so it just cost us time – and lots of it!"
